Last week, we dove deeper into our new PBL project. After identifying some things they wonder about, each student chose one to learn more about. We wrote down what things we already think we know about our topic and then wrote down some questions that we had. Finally, it was time to start researching. Research in kindergarten means we are looking in a teaching book, watching a video, talking to people who know about our topic, and maybe using online resources with the help of an adult. When we read a book or watch a video, we can't be passive listeners and watchers. We need to keep our brains engaged and thinking about what we are learning. We need to take "notes" as we read, watch, or listen. This means that getting through a video or book about our topic might take a really long time! We are stopping to write about our learning in our own words as we go. We might even be stopping to write down new questions that come up as we learn about our topic. Next week, we will continue to research the answers to our questions. We will then edit our answer notes and start writing our teaching books. |
Becoming Avid Readers!
Thank You Kate and John!!!
Phoebe's parents did an amazing job on our class' auction art project. We had a chance to enjoy it last week before sending it off to the Auction on Friday, where it was admired by all. I am so grateful to Kate and John for their creativity and their generosity! We are keeping our fingers crossed that we will be able to give Room 203 families an opportunity to purchase a copy of the book in the near future. We will keep you posted.
